Today, we’re featuring Kogi Capital, a private capital partnership that invest in the lower-middle market in Canada and the U.S. Kogi’s mission to help with the succession planning and legacy preservation of family-owned businesses 

Kogi Capital invests with a multi-generational time horizon, seeking to merge goodness and knowledge to build a portfolio of problem-solving companies. Their inter-generational mindset informs all aspects of their investment approach and operating philosophy.

Kogi Capital’s principals William (Will) Arámbula and Cristian (Cris) Núñez have a wealth of experience in the finance industry and since 2020 as owner/operators.

Will brings a background in investment banking from his nine years at J.P. Morgan, three years in Latin America, and six years based in New York. Will has raised over USD $20bn in debt and equity for corporates across the Americas, advised on mergers and acquisitions valued at USD $10bn+, helped overseeing a USD $1bn+ credit portfolio, and worked in more than USD $6bn of bankruptcies/restructurings. Most recently, he was a Vice President at The Blu Fund, a Latin America-focused hedge fund, where he helped manage over USD $150 million in assets.

Will holds a Bachelor of Science from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) with a major in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of British Columbia. Will is fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. He enjoys reading, walking, working-out, and practising sports.

Cris brings a background in corporate credit from his five years at J.P. Morgan where he worked on various private credit products (term loans, bridge loans, lines of credit, interest & FX swaps, mezzanine, and unitranche loans) in the Municipal Credit, Latin American Credit, and Mezzanine Credit groups, the last of which was within J.P. Morgan's Global Special Opportunities Group. He also led corporate development at Chugach Alaska Corporation, a congressionally created investment vehicle (akin to a family office) for the native peoples of the Prince William Sound region of Alaska. Cris served on the Audit & Finance Committee of Geneva Woods Pharmacy, a Pacific Northwest Specialty Pharmacy that was acquired by CVS in 2017. Cris currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Switchback Books, an award-winning literary press and Preservation Greensboro, a historic structure preservation organization for the Piedmont region of North Carolina. Cris is fluent in English and Spanish.

Cris holds a Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College, where he graduated with honors as a double major in Economics and History. Cris is also a Certified Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Professional.
